In 1976, before rapping took precedence over the sound system movement amongst the youth in the Bronx, break dancing or “b-boying” was the primary mode of expression to the music that was being blasted over the hip-hop sound systems. Like many of his contemporaries K.K., started out as a dancer with his childhood friend Keith Williams who performed as Breakout. The young K.K. learned some of the basic dance moves of “b-boying to the musical sounds of Jimmy Castor, James Brown and others
