Bambaataa was playing music from his 1st floor apt of the Building 1595 where I also lived .. 1973 ...In 1973 I walked the building where Bam and I and along with many of the members lived or hung out in and on the 1st fl / ground floor the Zulu Dancer were practicing there routine for the next show ... Zambo , Shaka , Amid , Aziz , Kusa , I was asked by Zambo and the other members to see what I have ... So I took it to the floor I was a very good spinner ... Next practice was in Bronx River Center .. 1973 -74 ...Bronx River Center ( Practice) Bam renamed his 5 or 6 Zulu Dancer to Zulu Kings.. During that practice a routine was put together for community center at Bronx River ... After Practice Bam ask his Zulu Kings if they wanted me to be part of the group and that they would take a Vote , they Voted and 3 of 5 said no, they wanted to Keep it as it is ...... So Bambattaa said to me Wade Aka Shyheme Start your Own Group and you will Call your B-Boys Dancers Shaka Zulu .. 1974, I met my first recruit at our 3rd party in 1974-75 in the Building Skylard located westchester ave & Gleason . We the Zulus had bam DJ Set without him ... Thats where I met Popeye, My 1st recruit ...By the summer of 1974-75 I met some girls that was from Bronxdale in that airier that is where Disco King Mario and his Chuck Chuck City Crew was from and they always played music in Rosedale park and that's were me and popeye started to breaking Dancing and it caught on quick ... 1975 -76 .... Recruiting Time .....You'll see where I'm going with ... Bambataa told me to tell the Story , Ask who I Am .. They will not lie, I wasn't the best B-Boy but people liked Me and gave me that Respect .. I'm given all of those that are concern to do there research ... Remember ( I Wade Lewis aka Shaka Zulu Shyheme ) have a B-Boy story to Tell from it's Beginning ... I carried Bambataa crates from Day 1 .... It's gonna be Hard to write a Book without Me and the Shaka Zulu B-Boys ....Recruiting Time.. The Beautiful Thing about Building a B-Boy Group is That you Don't Discriminate against anyone that wants to be Down ... So I was looking to cover as much ground as possible in all communities Bronxdale ,Monroe Houses , Sound-view House ,Castle hill , B-Boys was recruiting B-Boys From all over We were Building Muscle ... No matter Where we Dance we had people in that community ....
